The High Court, on the application of the Director of Corporate Enforcement, appointed inspectors to Irish News and Media Plc (INM).

INM is a newspaper and online publisher.  It has its headquarters in Dublin and its shares are listed on both the Irish and London Stock Exchanges. Some of its better-known titles are “The Irish Independent”, the “Sunday Independent”, and the “Belfast Telegraph”.   The Court appointed inspectors on various grounds, including that there was evidence suggesting that the affairs of the PLC have been conducted in an unlawful manner and in a manner unfairly prejudicial to some part of its members, including a secret off-site interrogation of company data paid for by a separate legal entity, and the sharing of inside company information; and that was in the public interest that the activities of the company be investigated, given its dominant role in the Irish media sector.

Catherine Donnelly acted for the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
